One of the most popular and beautiful annual festivals in Thailand, Loy Krathong, takes place on the full moon night of the twelfth lunar month, the 25th of November 2015. Lotus-shaped rafts are decorated with flowers, banana leaves and candles and launched on rivers, canals, lakes or pools. Loy Krathong festival is held to thank the Goddess of Water, Phra Mae Khongkha, for her bounty in providing water and to apologize for polluting it. According to tradition, this ritual also allows participants to float away their negative feelings and start a new year of good luck.
To mark the auspicious festival, Voilà!, our international gourmet restaurant, will host a special traditional Thai dinner buffet on November 25th featuring an array of dishes from the different regions of Thailand, and at a very special price for our LINE friends (@sofitelsukhumvit). After a magnifique dinner you can enjoy a romantic evening in Bangkok along Chao Phraya River, where thousands of people float their krathongs.
